Meet the Governors

Terms of office: 23.03.15 – 22.03.19

My name is Jane Lewis and I am Chair of Governors. I have been a Governor at Osbaldwick Primary since 2001. Both of my children were pupils at OPS and had a brilliant time. I want every child at our school to have the best teachers and develop a love of learning which will last them a lifetime. I get ideas on how to improve things in our school by networking and supporting other Governors as a National Leader of Governance. I represent our school on the Board of the Pathfinder Teaching School Alliance. I have recently become a Parent Governor at Archbishop Holgate’s School. I also run my own business and I love baking.

Terms of Office: 23.3.15 – 22.03.19

My name is Gary Ashmore and I am a co-opted member of the Governing Body and became a Governor at Osbaldwick Primary in the summer of 2014. As an estates professional (I am the Head of Estates Development overseeing major construction work at the University of York), I provide expertise in all estates and health and safety matters that affect the school.  I firmly believe that good education at any level is underpinned by modern, safe learning environments where pupils can flourish and feel a sense of belonging.  My aim is to bring personal experience of developing this type of space within the Higher Education to benefit the staff and children at Osbaldwick.  I am a keen golfer and passionate Liverpool supporter; the effort I apply to each is rarely rewarded with achievement!

Terms of Office: 23.03.15 – 22.03.19

My name is Anna Glaves and I am a co-opted Governor.  I also sit on the Curriculum &  Standards committee. I have two children (Y3 & Reception in the 2015/16 school year) and I have lived in Osbaldwick for nearly 8 years. I love the fact that my children can walk / scoot / cycle to their local school every day and enjoy knowing that I am helping to make a difference to our school.

Terms of Office: 08.11.13 – 07.11.17

I am a parent governor with three children, two of whom are already at the school and a third who will be starting shortly. I work as a project manager in the rail industry. On a personal level I enjoy coaching my boys football team and occasionally venture out on a bike when time allows.

Terms of Office: 23.03.15 – 22.03.19

I’ve been a parent governor at OPS since 2012 and I’m passionate about supporting the school as it aims to offer the best for each member of its community. My three children all come to this school.  I have been a language teacher, family permitting, for 14 years but I am currently an admin support worker for a local housing charity. I am a committed Christian and active member of York Community Church for whom I help run Boing which is an afterschool club based at the Osbaldwick Leyes site. In what spare time all that permits me, I endeavour to run in training for the York Marathon.

Terms of Office: 17.09.14 – 16.09.18

My name is Paula Jackson and I am parent governor.  I have been a parent governor for 5 years.  I have a child in reception and a child in Year 6.  I am committed to my role as a governor and completed the Foundation Certificate in School Governance.  I am currently the chair of the curriculum committee.  I am a part time Occupational therapist which I feel provides me with skills and knowledge which I can utilise to ensure our children have the best teaching and learning opportunities in a safe and happy environment.

Terms of Office: 23.03.15 – 22.03.19

Terms of Office: 07.09.15 – 06.09.19

Terms of Office: 01.01.16 – 31.12.19

My name is Jeremy Ash and I’m a newly co-opted Governor. As a finance professional I have experience in both the private and public sectors, of which I spent 6 years in the USA. My roles tend to focus on utilising my analytical, problem solving and IT skills. I am a keen mountain biker and road cyclist and very happy to have lived in Yorkshire for now 9 years. I play the drums, and am learning the piano. I love to cook but rarely do I follow recipes as it’s much more fun to create one’s own. My philosophy is that education should be fun, broad based and encourage children to learn, ponder and think for themselves. CDT was my favourite subject at school.

Terms of Office 24.5.16

My name is Robert Newport and I’m a co-opted Governor.  I currently work for an online retailer and before that worked for Nestlé in finance and in sales.  I’m a qualified accountant so can offer financial guidance and support, and also understand the commercial world from seven years selling chocolate and coffee.  I have two young daughters and enjoy spending time with them in the open air.  I believe a strong and engaged Governing body is a crucial foundation to a successful school environment.

Terms of Office: 10.02.16

My name is Lesley Booth and I work for the University of York and  has made significant contributions to the University and more widely in the city and region in several ways, providing the vision for and leading strategic improvements to teaching & learning over many years.
